OUR STORY

How we got here.

Almost three years ago the people of Fellowship Midtown took a step of faith and put God FIRST because they wanted to see Jesus change lives in Midtown. They left what was familiar and took a step towards a campus in Midtown. Although there were plenty of sacrifices, the Lord has been so gracious to come through every time we have taken a faith step. So, we ask again for Fellowship Midtown to seek FIRST as we invest in a building so we can reach even more people with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:33 to “Seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added to you as well”. Not only are we asking you to seek FIRST in your commitment, we want to do the same as a church. We commit to give 10% of all that we receive from the capital campaign back into Midtown and mission causes. Our desire is not to be about a building, but to invest into our community. We pray as we seek first His kingdom, He will do great things through our Midtown campus and beyond.

As we enter into FIRST, our prayer is that each one of us will fully engage with God and our church. Our challenge to you is to:

  • Seek FIRST by praying every day at 6:33 AM for a powerful work in Midtown.
  • Listen to what God is asking of you (and your family)
  • Respond with a commitment to give sacrificially over the next three years.

This is a three-year process where we seek to raise $1.8 million towards the purchase and renovation of Fellowship Midtown. We are asking you to be committed and faithful all three years with giving that is above and beyond your regular giving. When we put God first, we see what He is capable of doing!

Goal

Years from now, we hope to look back together and see how God used this process to transform each one of us, our community, our campus, and the world for the glory of His Name.

Project

The Nazarene Building that we purchased is 55 years old.  There have been very few updates in that time so there is a lot that needs to be updated and renovated. This project will renovate our existing building while also adding a more adequate lobby space to accommodate guests.

  • We are pressed for room in our current lobby to accommodate guests at the Connection Center and there is no room if we add additional worship services. There is also no capacity in the current lobby for a cafe or additional seating for people to connect.

  • Our men’s bathroom is next to our toddler and infant room which breaks guidelines and safety measures.

  • Fellowship Kids has not been updated for decades and needs significant cosmetic updates, including new ceilings, flooring, and lighting.

  • Our parking lot and building are dark compromising people’s safety so we want to add exterior lighting.

Cost of the Project

We currently owe $2.5 million on the building and we anticipate the renovation project costing $3 million. We hope to raise $1.8 million through the FIRST campaign which will leave us with a mortgage just under $4 million once the renovations and campaign are over. We would then begin paying off this mortgage aggressively through our campus ministry giving. One of the most exciting parts of the FIRST campaign, is we want to model putting His Kingdom FIRST by giving away 10% locally and globally of everything that comes in through the campaign!

FAQ

What is FIRST?

FIRST is a campaign through which we’re hoping to pay off and renovate our campus so that we can advance His Kingdom in even greater ways in Midtown and beyond.

How long is the FIRST commitment?

It is a three-year commitment over and above what you might already be giving to Fellowship Midtown. You can give to FIRST monthly, annually or make a one-time gift.

How much do we hope to raise through FIRST?

We hope to see $1.8 million committed over three years which we will combine with the $1,000,000 in cash that has already been given by the other Fellowship campuses for the project.

Will we finance any part of this new expansion project?

By reaching our goal, we will end up with a mortgage of around $3.7 million at the end of the project.  We feel this is a manageable mortgage that we will pay down aggressively.

When will we begin renovations on our building?

We would like to have $900,000 in cash before we start to break ground. We already have $200,000 in cash right now!  We would like to start the project after Easter if we have the cash!

What are different ways people can give to FIRST?

Many will give out of monthly income over their current giving to Fellowship. Some will reduce their retirement contributions or saving toward a future need for a season and give those funds. There are tax advantages for giving appreciated assets such as stocks, bonds, property or mutual funds. Valuable items such as jewelry or cars that have resale value have also been given before. For some, their pledge will represent a combination of these forms of generosity.

Is a Commitment/Pledge a legal agreement or promise?

Any commitment/pledge made to financially support the First campaign, whether communicated orally or through the completion of a commitment/pledge card either in writing or online, represents an intention to give and is not a legally binding agreement or promise to give.

How do I make a commitment to FIRST?

You can make your commitment online at fellowshipar.com/first/#commit or fill out a FIRST commitment card and place it in the offering plate or one of the FIRST receptacles located in the lobby.
